Background
Following extensive consultation with residents, local and national stakeholders, Nuon Renewables has revised its proposal for a wind farm near Swinford from 18 turbines to 11 to take into account concerns expressed throughout the consultation process. The proposal has been revised so that:
- Wind turbines have been re-sited and removed to keep away from edges of the site.
- Separation distances between turbines and houses have been increased.
- Setbacks to ecologically and historically sensitive areas have been increased to help ensure their preservation.
The revised proposal consists of 11 wind turbines, with a tower height of up to 80 metres and a blade length of up to 45 metres, providing a total installed capacity of up to 27.5MW. The Environmental Impact Assessment (along with the non-technical summary) that accompanies the planning application is available to view at Harborough District Council offices.
