Project Status

Information about the prospect of a potential wind farm was first put forward by Nuon Renewables to Llanbadarn Community Council in the spring of 2006. Keeping the local Community Council appraised of the Nuon interest and listening and responding to local feedback is an integral part of our approach to public information and project development.

Once firm proposals had been formulated a brochure summarising the scheme was produced in the summer of 2007 and mailed to residents within a two to three mile radius of the proposed wind farm location just north of Llanbadarn Fynydd. The brochure invited local residents to attend the drop-in information sessions on the proposals which were held in the Llanbadarn Fynydd Village Hall on 15 and 16 August.

Some 80 people attended the information sessions, a significant number given the sparse population of the area. A wide range of information was available in printed material and from those carrying out the technical surveys and research associated with the wind farm project. Local liaison will continue to feature in Nuon’s post submission public affairs and in particular in helping to inform and guide the most appropriate mechanisms for establishing and operating Nuon’s commitment to a Community Fund associated with the Llanbadarn Fynydd wind farm.

Nuon Renewables look forward to a positive long term relationship with the local community and being seen as a good wind farm neighbour.

The Llanbadarn Fynydd planning application has been submitted to the Department of Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform and was registered on the 5th December 2007. The application has been simultaneously submitted to Powys County Council and the formal consultation process is now underway.
