Why Airfield Farm?

Following a detailed and thorough analysis of the area, Nuon decided that this site provided an opportunity for a commercially viable wind farm, without compromising the local environment and recreational amenity of the area.

A full Environmental Impact Assessment has been conducted. You can view the Non Technical Summary for an overview of the results.

The three turbines will be located on land surrounding the Santa Pod Raceway, which hosts over 50 events during the race season including the FIA European Drag Racing Championships, the self proclaimed 'Fastest and Loudest Motorsport on Earth!'

We have designed the site so that the turbines should not have any adverse impact on our neighbours.

A number of footpaths and bridleways pass near to the site, as such we have designed the layout to incorporate a 200m offset from these rights of way in accordance with PPS22.
