Community Engagement
As part of the development process Nuon Renewables has begun consultation with the local community over the nature and development of the wind farm proposal. This process began with the first in a series of information booklets that introduced the proposed scheme at Rhyd Ddu and invited anyone interested in finding out more to come along to one of the exhibitions that were held in September 2009.
At these exhibitions members of the public had the opportunity to view the wind farm design, find out about the many areas of research and investigation that Nuon Renewables are engaged in to ensure that the proposals meet regulatory standards and are the best possible projects for the site in question. Local people were invited to talk to members of the project team and to give their feedback on the scheme, providing the evolving project proposals with the benefit of their local knowledge, understanding and a broad range of insights.
Community members also raised concerns and questions, which were answered immediately where possible, and have been taken on board by the project team. Local people were also asked to begin to consider and to contribute their ideas on what the community benefit schemes could help deliver and on how they should be set up.
The results of the engagement sessions have been written up into a summary report - English / Welsh (that has been sent to all those who attended the sessions, and local councillors, as well as immediate neighbours) and a full report.
