The Proposal

A Planning Application for a wind farm of eleven turbines, each with a maximum rated output of up to 2.5 megawatts, was recommended for approval by the planning officers of Conwy County Borough Council and agreed by a vote of the Planning Committee on 11 March 2009.

Currently, the Planning Conditions for the site are being finalised by Conwy County Borough Council.

The wind farm is within one of the seven TAN8 Strategic Search Areas (SSA’s) identified by the Welsh Assembly Government as suitable for the generation of electricity from wind energy. The site is located approximately 1.2km south of the village of Llanfihangel Glyn Myfyr. Most of the turbines will be within the Llanfihangel Community Council area with some in the neighbouring Community Council of Llangwm to the south. Both Community Councils approved of the scheme.
