The Swinford site was chosen after a very careful site selection process. The area is particularly suitable due to the wind resource, accessibility to the National Grid and the environmental suitability.

Local quarries will be used to source stone for the track construction, just one of many socio-economic benefits for the area.

In addition, this proposed site could exceed the wind energy generation target of 22MW for the whole Leicestershire.

Important agriculture can still take place alongside the turbines as only a very small area of land is required for them. Existing tracks have been utilised as much as possibe to minimise the impact on the local area.

The site has avoided local bridleways and footpaths and is also sited away from national designations such as AONB and SSSI.
