Wind farm funds new path for Pendine and Llanmiloe Communities - 1st Sept 2010
A new permissive path, funded entirely by Parc Cynog Wind Farm, is now open for use by the local community and visitors to the area. See more...
Starting between the communities of Llanmiloe and Pendine and heading past the wind farm, the path is an exciting addition to the local offering for walkers, which include the popular Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire Coastal Paths.
The path creates a new link between the coastal villages of Llanmiloe and Pendine and a number of other footpaths in the area, and gives the potential for walkers to follow a circular route from Llanmiloe, up to the north through unspoilt woodland valleys and back to the village of Pendine.
Chris Morris, Head of Commercial and Contracting at Nuon Renewables said:
"We have cleared brash and fallen trees to open up this trail for the local community and visitors, and are excited to be able to provide a new opportunity to explore this beautiful part of Wales, adding to the diversity of exisiting trails in this area."
"The woods have burst into flower with wild garlic, bluebells and primroses. We hope that many visitors and locals will take the opportunity to explore this new trail that links the seafront with the quiet lanes and other footpaths to the north."

Nuon Renewables has been recognised for its investment in the community at the inaugural Rhondda Cynon Taf Community Sports Awards 2010. See more...
The awards, held to celebrate community sports across the county, saw Nuon accept the runners up prize in the community investor category for its support of the local rugby team in Treherbert.
Support from Nuon has enabled the club to access valuable Sportsmatch funding, which, along with Nuon’s sponsorship package, has made a huge difference to the teams. The funding has made possible the training of 6 new coaches, 4 new referees for the under 16 teams as well as training new first aiders.
In addition, new kit – from playing shirts, training bibs and cones, to new balls, pads and tackle bags – has helped to ensure that the club have the best possible equipment to train to the highest standards; from the junior players to the senior first team.
Stephen Holdroyd, Project Manager said:
“We are delighted to be recognised through the sports awards for our contribution to the local community and are thrilled that our support has made a real difference to Treherbert’s rugby team. We look forward to continuing our relationship with the club, who work extremely hard to provide opportunities for all generations in the area to enjoy playing and supporting their local team. We wish them all the best with the 2010/11 season around the corner and look forward to continuing to develop our relationship with the community”.
